Reading Time 3 minutes

October is here. There is a nip in the air.

It’s our favorite time of the year, so is our time to bid farewell to the comforts of the city:

Mother’s pampering

House Help

WC with Wifi

Air Conditioning

Hot Showers

10-minute doorstep deliveries

Uber

Amazon

The warmth of our friends

After spending the monsoons in New Delhi, we plan to head back to the remote village in the mountains soon.

The mountains are calling.

Leaving the comforts of the city hasn’t got any easier.

It still feels daunting even after doing it for two years.

At the same time, we know the longer we stay in our comfort zone, the more it might ruin our life plans as eloquently expressed in this TED talk by Bill Eckstorm.

A comfort zone is a beautiful place, but nothing ever grows there.

A rocket requires a powerful boost called 'escape velocity' to soar beyond the gravitational attraction of the Earth.

Similarly, we too require an extra push to step out of our comfort zone.

But now, we've come to understand how rewarding it can be.

New opportunities await on the other side.

That’s where the magic happens.

We grow professionally and as a human.

Embracing discomfort doesn't necessarily mean quitting your job or relocating to a remote village; sometimes, it can be as simple as:

Meditating for 5 minutes.

Saying Hi to a stranger.

Running a mile.

Having that difficult conversation.

The 5-second rule has become a valuable tool for us, helping us overcome discomfort and accomplish tasks such as recording our podcasts.

Our humble wish is that you too may find comfort in discomfort in your own unique way.

5 Year Plan

Today, we invite you to participate in an exercise we're undertaking ourselves.

5-Year Plan is about creating alternate realities.

It is inspired by the ‘Odyssey Plan concept’ from ‘Designing Your Life’ by Bill Burnett & Dave Evans.

This intriguing activity allows you to project yourself into the future by drawing or writing on three different sheets of paper to map out three alternative scenarios:

  1. What will my life be like in five years if I continue doing what I'm doing now?

  2. How will my life change in five years if I completely change my path?

  3. What can I expect my life to be like if I choose a different path without worrying about money or what others think?

You can divide the paper into 5 columns to project your yearly progress - 2024, 2025, 2026, 2027, and 2028.

Wishing you an ‘uncomfortable’ Sunday, filled with discoveries and growth!!
